Scenario 1: The Wild Elopement at Voderup Klint

Imagine starting your wedding day with a scenic drive through the lovely Ærø countryside. Your private ride arrives at your accommodation: Our playful, eye-catching open-top pink wedding Trabant, perfect for cruising across the island with the wind in your hair. Alternatively, you step into a beautiful white vintage Beetle, complete with your own personal chauffeur.

You drive toward Voderup Klint, a protected nature reserve where massive, grassy terraces step down thirty-three meters to meet the vast Baltic Sea. Up on these high cliffs, you stand far above the water where the ocean itself is silent, but the atmosphere is powerfully alive. It is a place of grand scale and dramatic beauty—so captivating that the Danish King Frederik and Queen Mary insisted on making an unscheduled detour to experience it during their last royal visit to the island.

After a short walk along the coastal paths, you meet the registrar right on the hillside. Surrounded by wild grasses and an endless horizon stretching toward Germany, you say your vows in a setting that feels majestic and timeless.

Following the ceremony, you walk over to a beautifully styled reception table that we have set up directly in the nature reserve. Here, you celebrate your first moments as newlyweds by toasting each other with chilled champagne, fresh local canapés, and a wedding cake adorned with seasonal flowers. Your photographer captures cinematic portraits in the dramatic coastal light before you cruise back to town. This scenario is best suited for intimate elopements of just the two of you, or with a few of your absolute closest loved ones.

Scenario 2: The Elegant Beach Celebration at Vesterstrand

If your dream wedding involves sand between your toes and a classic Scandinavian coastal vibe, this scenario brings it to life. You and your guests arrive at Vesterstrand, a beach famous for its rows of tiny, brightly painted 1920s beach houses that stand right along the water's edge.

Directly on the sand, we set up a beautiful wedding arch decorated with elegant silk drapery and seasonal floral arrangements, with wedding chairs neatly arranged for your guests. You walk down the beach toward the water to the sound of lapping waves to exchange your vows.

After the ceremony, the celebration moves just a few steps up to Mummy’s Beach Hut, our own private, family-held beach house. The wooden deck and the surrounding sand become your private reception lounge. We have arranged a selection of chilled champagne, fresh canapés, and your wedding cake for you to enjoy, and everyone´s free to relax in beach chairs, go for a dip and take in the moment. It is a wonderful choice if you want an upscale beach wedding that still feels completely relaxed, gentle, and family-friendly.

Scenario 3: The Historic Lighthouse & Atrium Mini-Wedding

For couples who love maritime history and dramatic coastal architecture, your day begins with a journey to the rugged northwestern tip of Ærø, where the Baltic Sea meets the Little Belt. Your vintage wedding car pulls up to Skjoldnæs Fyr, a majestic lighthouse built in 1881 from solid granite.

For the ceremony, the two of you ascend the stone spiral staircase, leaving everything else at the bottom. The registrar awaits you on the narrow, circular balcony at the very top. You exchange your rings thirty-two meters above the water, with a panoramic view of three different sea channels spread out below you. Because space at the top is tightly limited, this spectacular balcony ceremony is kept strictly for the couple alone.

But you do not have to leave your guests behind. While you are exchanging vows in the clouds, your family and friends are waiting at the base of the tower, waving at you as you say yes to each other. As you descend as newlyweds, they greet you with flags, flower petal confetti and cheers.

The historic lighthouse master’s house is now the home of the Ærø Golf Club, and we gain exclusive access to their beautiful, sheltered atrium courtyard. Everyone moves into this flower decorated, rustic space just steps from the lighthouse to enjoy an intimate reception with champagne, canapés, and a dinner made from local produce. It is the perfect way to combine an exclusive elopement experience with a meaningful celebration for a small group of 15-30 guests.
