Visiting Aeroe in winter

Latest Update – 8 November 2025

Winter on Ærø is wonderful – but it does mean we sometimes have to use our extensive local knowledge and connections to make sure our couples have the best experience possible. Although it is very much a real all-year-round community with its own school, hospital and so on, many of the restaurants and hotels take advantage of the quiet season to have some well-earned holiday.

One issue we have noticed is that there is some misinformation online, with booking platforms like booking.com claiming that places are closed, when that is not correct. It just means that many local places are not advertised on the major booking websites.

So this is our contribution to getting the right information out there for out winter season visitors.

We at DIW are of course open, and we shall keep you updated on a weekly basis so that you can know the latest winter developments, and make sure you are aware of the quirky and delightful places to stay, eat and shop in and around Ærøskøbing :
