We have a deep love for Ærø and everything local and sustainable, which we always try to incorporate into our weddings.
We are three sisters in a small family-run destination wedding planning company based on the fairy-tale island of Ærø in southern Denmark. Our family has an international background, but our roots can be traced back 500 years right here on the island. We live here, work here, and know it better than most!
Whether or not it’s just the two of you eloping, and whichever one of our exclusive wedding locations you choose, we provide unlimited advice with your documentation, coordinate with the local Registrars, and meet you in person, to go through every detail before getting married in Denmark.
Our office is on the town square of Aeroeskoebing, and we have our own in-house photographer, Neli Garnet, beautician Anne, and we hand-pick flowers to make seasonal Aeroe bouquets whenever possible. We care about what we do, and we are always ready to meet you and make you feel at home as soon as you step off the ferry!

About Us
Danish Island Weddings is a family business to its core, consisting of the three sisters Louise, Yuki and Anna, as well as Louise’s husband John. We organise stylish elopements, intimate weddings and vow renewals for couples from all over the world.
When Louise started the business in Ærøskøbing, back in 2008, her focus was on authenticity and on creating a unique and memorable wedding experience. 15+ years, 3100+ weddings and 1000+ 5-star reviews later, that commitment to authenticity is stronger than ever. So, although using our unrivalled experience and knowledge to get your marriage application approved quickly is vital, so is the attention to detail, the use of local flowers and focus on sustainability, and even the furniture in the wedding room and the catering in the beach house. Because it matters!
Ærø’s charm is an essential part of the concept, offering the most photogenic wedding backdrop imaginable. The prizewinning town of Ærøskøbing (the town where our office is) is also known as the “fairytale town” because of its cobbled streets and its lovely old crooked town houses, where no two doors are the same.
We live and work on Ærø and have a strong network and an unmatched knowledge of the island. Being quick and professional at getting your marriage application approved speedily is important to us - but so is style and service.

In addition to our signature wedding in our lovely private room in the Merchant’s House in the historic town centre of Ærøskøbing, we also work with a select range of other exclusive locations. We have our own iconic beach hut, and exclusive us of the lighthouse.
We work with eloping couples who are looking for a simple no-frills option as well as couples who want a bigger celebration with all the extras they can think of - and everything in between.
